While I usually work from a home office, I spent two days in an office this week! This meant I had to pack up the tools that enable my best work, without bringing my whole home office with me. Here are my secrets to ADHD-friendly meetings.

Remember, this may look different for everyone, but for me, here are a few favorites:

Fidgets

ADHD presents as hyperactive-impulsive, inattentive, or combined. For many adults, hyperactivity doesn’t show up as bouncing off the walls as much as it does fidgeting.

The spiky acupressure rings are a favorite because they are quiet! I only flung it across the room a few times.

Fun Office Supplies

Could we survive with a standard legal pad and some free pen found lying around? Probably.

Would it be as much fun? Definitely not.

Knowing I’m a visual thinker, selecting a special colored pen for my two-day offsite meeting kept my notes organized. Everything in purple was from this event. I’m also a tactile processor, so the act of writing helps me remember something, even if I never go back to read those notes, it helps me stay engaged during the meeting and helps me commit those details to memory.

Pilot Frixion Pens are the best erasable pens and pair perfectly with my reusable notebook. Think of a book of tiny white boards that can be uploaded via an app, and erased as soon as we are done with the page. It wipes clean with a damp cloth. Rocketbooks are so cool.

Fueling Up

Don’t forget some drinks and snacks! Just having a snack in your laptop bag can be a lifesaver, so you don’t spend an hour before lunch just *thinking* about lunch and missing important info. Despite the popularity of spendy insulated water cups, most people could do better with their daily water intake. Stay hydrated! If you are a sensory seeker, water might not be your fun drink (but it’s necessary!) so also consider a bubbly drink or some fun textured food.
