MPG loves working with clients over a span of a few months to really help them grow professionally. The best results come when clarity on coaching is established early in the engagement.

When clients are brand new to coaching, we talk through what coaching looks like. It’s different than consulting, mentoring, and therapy. Coaching is future-focused and driven by the client. As the coach, MPG helps the client identify and remove roadblocks on their leadership journey.

What a Coach is NOT:

  • Consultant: Consultants are hired guns to solve problems and find answers. The solutions may do the trick right now, but ultimately may not change behavior in the client to make lasting impact. Coaching is not consulting, because a coach should not tell you what do to do.
  • Mentor: Mentoring is a valuable relationship someone has with a leader, potentially at the same company or in the same field, that can impart wisdom from their experiences. Mentors offer advice.
  • Sponsor or Champion: In your career, leaders (likely skip-level) can help you navigate career pathing and speak up for you when you are not in the room. These individuals have the company’s interests in mind as well as yours.
  • Therapist: A therapist is a licensed professional with extensive education in supporting clients through various life events and more. Therapists are incredible at helping determine the root cause and sorting through past trauma. Coaching focuses on the future.

What a Coach IS:

Unfortunately, too many self-described experts through around the “coach” title these days. But MPG strictly adheres to the definitions outlined by the International Coaching Federation (ICF). An ICF-accredited coach focuses on listening to the client and asking powerful questions to help clients move forward with “big, hairy, audacious goals”. As the coach, we strive to create a safe and open environment for clients to speak freely about what they hope to accomplish and together we knock down anything standing in their way. Ultimately, the client owns all the action items and path forward for their success, which is the driver for lasting change.

Different Types of Coaching Engagements

Leadership Coaching

Whether you are an individual contributor or people leader, if you support people, products, programs, or processes, coaching can support you as you build influence and execute on your goals.

Executive Coaching

Shifting from managing people to managing functions comes with a number of transitions, and executive coaching can help leaders grow into their role and exceed expectations. Executive and Leadership Coaching are not exclusively for leaders in transition (new role, new company, etc.)

Lead with ADHD Coaching

This is the intersection of leadership coaching and ADHD coaching. We focus on leaders with ADHD. While some ADHD coaches support foundational executive functioning, we focus efforts around helping clients thrive at work.

This coaching pairs well with enrollment in our Lead with ADHD program. MPG can host cohorts with your organization to provide ADHD-friendly leadership development to a selected group.
